Description

A dialog is a popup window, allowing the user to enter information or make decisions

Usage & Behaviour

General guidelines

Structure

  • In addition to the basic elements of a popup window, a dialog contains any set of form components, such as radio buttons, checkboxes, dropdown menus etc.

  • A help icon (question mark) may appear next to the closing icon on the dialog's header, allowing the user to get help about the current popup

  • Dialogs may come in different widths and heights. In some cases the height or width of a dialog changed depending on values the user entered or error messages (see Field Validation)

Interaction

Validations and errors

  • The main action button will be enabled even if the dialog box contains mandatory fields which were not filled-in. In this case, clicking the main action button will:

    • Show an error message at the bottom of the dialog

    • Disable the button

  • For detailed validations and errors see Field Validation
