Magnifier icon: placed at the right area of text field. In Manual search, Search with Auto-Suggest the user may click the magnifier icon button to initiate the search. In Live search Search the magnifier icon functions as an additional indicator to the search input field.
Hint and text input: left-aligned.
'x' icon (clear): right-aligned. The “x” is replacing the magnifier icon in “live search” and added added and aligned to the magnifier icon in “search with auto-suggest”.
Content
Empty search field includes a hint text.
The hint text must start with the word 'Search' to indicate the search functionality.
The next word/s should provide helpful context and imply the results type (e.g. 'search employee', 'search custom data field').
Length
The search field should be in the minimum width of 27 characters.
